Auburn Public Schools District is located in southeast Nebraska. Educators in the rural district strive to provide excellence in education for all PK-12 students. In 2015 -16, the district was recognized as 1 of 5 "Excellent" school districts in Nebraska. In 2018, the district was also honored as a top 5 school that has "Closed the Achievement Gap." Differentiated instruction allows teachers to meet the varied needs of students. A high ability learner program includes enrichment camps, HAL diploma program, advanced classes, & academic competitions. High school students may also enroll in Advanced Placement (AP), online, and/or dual credit classes. A school improvement process guides teachers and administrators in setting goals, assessing academic progress, and developing new instructional strategies to address students' needs. Currently, teacher staff development focuses on improving math instruction, engaging student in learning, and implementing a school-wide behavior plan.

Auburn Public Schools, a national award winning school district with high expectations for student learning, is located between Omaha, Lincoln and Kansas City. Peru State College and Cooper Nuclear Station are situated inside the district's boundaries and help create a progressive mix of urban and rural living. 

The community of Auburn has excellent recreational opportunities including swimming, tennis,bowling alley, movie theater, wellness center and fitness center. Youth can participate in the youth city recreational program and legion baseball. The area is home to the Auburn Country Club, Ariens Nature Explore Classroom, Indian Cave State Park and Optimist Lake/Rotary Island - fishing and walking path. Community Members can join the Optimist Club and/or the Auburn Rotary Club.
